Broadcom Seals Expanded Chip Deals with Google and Anthropic

Broadcom has secured significant AI chip manufacturing deals with Google and expanded its partnership with Anthropic. These agreements highlight the intense demand for AI infrastructure to power generative AI models. Broadcom’s role in manufacturing Google’s AI processors and supplying compute capacity to Anthropic positions it as a key player in the rapidly growing AI market.

Broadcom Secures Significant AI Chip Deals, Underscoring Intense Infrastructure Demand

Broadcom announced Monday it has inked agreements to manufacture future iterations of artificial intelligence chips for Google and expanded a substantial deal with AI startup Anthropic. This expanded partnership with Anthropic will grant the company access to approximately 3.5 gigawatts of computing capacity, leveraging Google’s advanced AI processors.

The news sent Broadcom shares up 3% in after-hours trading.

This development highlights the escalating demand for the robust infrastructure required to power sophisticated generative AI models. Anthropic has witnessed a meteoric rise in popularity this year, with its Claude application topping the charts as the number one free app in Apple’s App Store in February, following public scrutiny surrounding its dealings with the Pentagon.

During Broadcom’s latest earnings call, CEO Hock Tan expressed optimism about the company’s trajectory with Anthropic, stating, “For Anthropic, we are off to a very good start in 2026” by providing 1 gigawatt of compute power derived from Google’s proprietary Tensor Processing Units (TPUs). Broadcom plays a crucial role in the manufacturing of these TPUs. Tan further projected, “For 2027, this demand is expected to surge in excess of 3 gigawatts of compute.”

Analysts at Mizuho, led by Vijay Rakesh, previously estimated that Broadcom could generate $21 billion in AI revenue from Anthropic in 2026 and a staggering $42 billion in 2027. While Monday’s filing did not disclose specific financial figures, it reinforces the scale of these anticipated partnerships.

In parallel, Broadcom is also engaged in a collaboration with OpenAI, a prominent rival to Anthropic, focusing on custom silicon development for AI applications. Both leading AI model developers currently depend heavily on Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) from Nvidia. These are primarily accessed through major cloud providers such as Amazon, Google, and Microsoft. Furthermore, OpenAI has committed to utilizing six gigawatts of AMD’s GPUs, with the initial gigawatt expected to be deployed in the latter half of this year.

The strategic importance of companies like Broadcom in the AI ecosystem cannot be overstated. As AI models become increasingly complex and computationally intensive, the demand for specialized hardware and the underlying infrastructure to support it will continue to surge. Broadcom’s ability to secure these high-profile manufacturing and supply agreements positions it as a key player in enabling the next wave of AI innovation. The company’s diversified strategy, spanning chip design, manufacturing, and infrastructure solutions, appears well-aligned to capitalize on this unprecedented market growth.
