Mediterranean darling CAVA expands its Midwest footprint, planting its flag in Michigan.
WASHINGTON — CAVA (NYSE: CAVA), the rapidly expanding Mediterranean fast-casual chain, is officially open for business in Michigan. The debut location, situated in Canton, MI, spans 3,850 square feet and features both a dining room and dedicated space for digital order pick-up and delivery. Doors are open daily from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. and signals the brand’s intention to further expand its Michigan presence before year’s end.
CAVA’s entrance into the Michigan market reflects the brand’s larger strategy of national growth. The chain aims to bring its customizable Mediterranean-inspired menu – boasting a staggering 17 billion potential combinations from 38 ingredients – to a wider audience. This includes bowls, pitas, dips, and dressings, all embodying the company’s mission to deliver “heart, health, and humanity to food.” The company has been experiencing remarkable growth in the Midwest.
“We are excited to bring our bold, Mediterranean flavors to the Southeast Michigan community,” stated Gino Carlin, Regional Leader at CAVA. “Michigan marks our 28th state, and we’re eager to welcome more guests in the Midwest and throughout the country.”
Prior to opening, CAVA continued its tradition of holding a Community Day, offering complimentary meals and matching donations up to $1,000 for a local cause. Since 2019, this initiative has raised over $600,000 for organizations battling food insecurity. In Canton, funds were raised for Gleaners Food Bank of Southeast Michigan.
CAVA is aggressively pursuing expansion, aiming to reach 1,000 locations by 2032. The company added 58 net new restaurants in fiscal year 2024 and projects at least 17% growth in 2025. The addition of Michigan brings CAVA’s national footprint to 28 states and Washington, D.C.
Alongside its Community Day event, CAVA also donated freshly prepared meals to the local community during its training period. This program, launched nationally in the fall of 2023, tackles food insecurity and aims to minimize food waste as the company expands.
The new Canton location is expected to employ 25-40 local residents. CAVA emphasizes hospitality and offers competitive pay and benefits, including paid time off, healthcare, early wage access, an Employee Assistance Program, and mental health support.
