Tencent’s QQ is upping its game, testing a new feature that allows users to seamlessly transfer funds between their QQ Wallet balance and WeChat Pay accounts, CNBC has learned.

Spotted in the latest QQ 9.2.5 beta version, users can find the “Transfer to WeChat” option by navigating to “QQ Profile – Wallet – Balance.” Tapping this feature prompts a secure authorization process within WeChat, enabling direct transfers thereafter. CNBC’s own testing confirmed a smooth, instantaneous transfer experience, with both QQ and WeChat immediately notifying users upon completion, all without any pesky transaction fees. The system also safeguards against accidental misdirection of funds by restricting transfers to WeChat Pay accounts linked to the same verified identity as the QQ Wallet.

But what about going the other way? Turns out, transferring funds from WeChat Pay to QQ has been possible since 2020.
