CNBC AI News, August 9th – The 2025 World Robot Conference is currently underway, running from August 8th to 12th at the Beijing Etrong International Exhibition & Convention Center in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area.
Following his presentation at the conference, Wang Xingxing, Founder, CEO, and CTO of Unitree Robotics, sat down for a media interview.
When questioned about the significant price difference between Unitree’s new R1 humanoid robot (starting at ¥39,900) and its predecessor, the G1, Wang responded, “Our current price reductions are actually model-specific. Smaller robots tend to be more affordable, while larger ones are priced accordingly.”
He elaborated, explaining that cheaper and more expensive options exist within different product lines. “We aim to offer better prices,” Wang stated, “to encourage wider adoption and accessibility of our robots.”
Unitree Robotics officially launched its third humanoid robot, the “Unitree R1 Intelligent Companion,” on July 25th.
Priced from ¥39,900, the R1 is designed for development and customization. This agile and lightweight robot weighs approximately 25Kg and integrates large language models for multi-modal interactions (voice and vision).
Prior to the R1, Unitree had already released two humanoid robots: the H1 and the G1.
Earlier this year, Unitree’s Unitree H1 and G1 humanoid robots became available on the JD.com platform, priced at ¥650,000 and ¥99,000 respectively. The R1’s aggressive pricing signals Unitree’s intent to disrupt the humanoid robot market and make advanced robotics more attainable for a broader customer base.
