Nvidia is investing $1 billion in Nokia, acquiring an equity stake of over 166 million new shares. This investment will fund Nokia’s AI research and development, particularly in 6G technology. A joint report by InterDigital and ABI Research highlights 3GPP Release 20 as a critical bridge between 5G-Advanced and 6G. Release 20 solidifies 5G while initiating 6G research in areas like AI-native networks, Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), and Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN). Key focuses include improved energy efficiency, satellite integration, and enabling new services like holographic XR and sensing-driven IoT.
