SK Hynix has surpassed Samsung Electronics in operating profit for 2025, a first for the company. This achievement is driven by SK Hynix’s dominant position in high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, essential for AI processors. While Samsung is diversifying, SK Hynix’s specialized focus on memory, particularly HBM, has proven highly successful amid the AI infrastructure boom. Despite increasing competition from Samsung and Micron, SK Hynix is expected to maintain its leadership in the critical HBM market.

Ellomay Capital (ELLO) reported Dorad Energy’s Q3‑2025 interim results. Through its 50% stake in Ellomay Luzon Energy, Ellomay holds ~16.9% of Dorad. The company generated ₪ 919.1 million in revenue and ₪ 205.8 million operating profit, driven by summer demand and the TAOZ tariff, thus not representative of full‑year performance. Operating cash flow was ₪ 554.8 million, while financing activities used ₪ 218.9 million. The unaudited figures were not reviewed by Ellomay’s auditors. Key risks include seasonality, CPI‑linked interest costs and regulatory changes.

Toyota has revised its full-year operating profit forecast upward to 3.4 trillion yen, despite a 1.45 trillion yen hit from U.S. tariffs. The September quarter’s operating profit, however, fell short of analyst estimates due to these tariffs, with a nearly 28% year-over-year decline in quarterly profit despite increased revenue. Toyota is exploring exporting U.S.-made vehicles to Japan in response to trade agreements. Analysts expect continued pressure on profitability, with potential recovery contingent on trade stability and currency fluctuations amidst growing EV competition.

SK Hynix surpassed Samsung Electronics in operating profit in 2024, achieving 21.33 trillion won, driven by a strong performance in the memory chip market. South Korea’s 1,000 major listed companies also saw record profits, with a 92.7% increase from 2023. While Samsung had significantly higher revenue, SK Hynix’s operating profit margin was much higher. The CXO Institute predicts SK Hynix to maintain its lead in 2025.
