Gatik Secures $200 Million to Expand AI-Powered Autonomous Freight Operations

The company’s internally developed simulation platform, Arena, introduced in July 2025, is designed to replicate complex driving environments without solely relying on physical road testing. Arena generates structured synthetic data, enabling rigorous testing of autonomous driving behavior across a wide spectrum of conditions, from routine scenarios to rare, high-risk events that are challenging to encounter consistently in real-world testing.

The Arena platform leverages Nvidia’s Cosmos world foundation models to create realistic synthetic driving environments for both training and validation purposes. This allows Gatik to meticulously test its autonomous systems by recreating specific scenarios repeatedly in simulation, accelerating the development and validation cycle. Complementing its simulation efforts, Gatik utilizes Nvidia hardware for its onboard AI processing. Since March 2025, Gatik has been integrating Nvidia’s DRIVE AGX platform into its Class 6 and 7 autonomous trucks. DRIVE AGX serves as the onboard computing backbone, processing real-time sensor data and executing the complex AI workloads essential for autonomous driving.

Strategic partnerships are also fueling Gatik’s growth and technological advancement. Isuzu Motors invested $30 million in Gatik in 2024, initiating a collaboration aimed at developing Level 4 autonomous commercial vehicles for the North American market. This partnership involves the joint development of a redundant chassis specifically engineered for autonomous driving, with redundancy built in to ensure system recovery in the event of software anomalies. Both companies are targeting mass production of this jointly developed chassis from 2027, with Isuzu also setting the same year for the launch of its Level 4 autonomous commercial vehicle business. Isuzu’s integrated reports consistently position Gatik as a key partner for autonomous logistics in the North American middle-mile market, encompassing both vehicle development and mass production of specialized chassis.

Gatik’s trucks are classified as Level 4 autonomous vehicles, meaning their automated driving systems can perform the driving task without human intervention within a defined Operational Design Domain (ODD). An ODD, as defined by Isuzu, encompasses the specific road, geographic, environmental, and other conditions under which the autonomous driving system is designed and validated to operate safely. Gatik’s current generation of trucks are capable of operating around the clock on both highways and surface streets, and can handle various conditions including light rain and snow, underscoring their robust performance capabilities.
