In a move underscoring the growing enterprise adoption of generative AI, Deloitte has announced a significant partnership with Anthropic to deploy its Claude AI assistant to over 470,000 employees globally. This represents Anthropic’s largest enterprise deployment to date, solidifying the existing collaboration that began last year.

The partnership signals Deloitte’s commitment to integrating AI into its core operations, spanning consulting, tax, and audit services. Deloitte, already catering to a substantial client base, aims to leverage AI to enhance internal productivity and deliver more informed, innovative solutions to its customers.

Paul Smith, Anthropic’s chief commercial officer, highlighted the investment both companies are making in this partnership. “We are both investing a significant amount in this partnership, whether that’s financial or whether it is just simply the engineering resource that we’re going to put into this as well,” Smith told CNBC, emphasizing the strategic importance of the collaboration.

While financial details remain undisclosed, the scope of the deployment signals a substantial commitment. Deloitte plans to tailor Claude “personas” to different employee groups, ranging from accountants to software developers, over the coming months. This customized approach aims to maximize the relevance and impact of AI across various functions within the organization. Furthermore, Deloitte is establishing a Claude Center of Excellence to provide specialized support and accelerate the adoption of the technology.

Ranjit Bawa, Deloitte’s U.S. chief strategy and technology officer, emphasized the strategic rationale behind the deployment. “Our clients obviously want to know: ‘Are you using it as well?’ So we can advise them better, we can be more credible,” Bawa said highlighting the importance of internal adoption for client credibility. He also noted the potential for AI to spark innovation. “That’s why we said we got to start with ourselves as we continue to have our clients reimagine their future.”

Beyond internal benefits, Deloitte’s investment in Claude serves as a testing ground for AI solutions that can be replicated and customized for its clients. This positions Deloitte as a leader in AI consulting, equipped with practical experience and a deep understanding of the technology’s potential applications across diverse industries.

Anthropic’s global expansion strategy aligns with this deployment. The startup has been actively working to expand its international presence, announcing plans to triple its workforce this year and appointing Chris Ciauri to lead this expansion.

This move follows Anthropic’s recent unveiling of its Claude Sonnet 4.5 model and a $13 billion funding round that valued the company at $183 billion. The company is competing with other tech giants in the generative AI space.

“We’re still pretty busy,” Smith said. “But it’s good busy,” indicating high demand for Anthropic’s AI solutions in the market.
