TORONTO, ON – Lucid Group, Inc. (LCID), the Silicon Valley-based manufacturer of luxury electric vehicles, has officially commenced deliveries of its highly anticipated Lucid Gravity SUV in Canada. The Gravity Grand Touring model leads the charge, promising a blend of spaciousness, performance, and advanced technology, directly targeting the premium electric SUV market currently dominated by Tesla’s Model X and facing increasing competition from Rivian and other emerging players.

“There has been great anticipation for the Lucid Gravity in Canada,” stated Erwin Raphael, Vice President of Revenue at Lucid Group. “It offers space for up to seven adults and their luggage. It can handle even the most challenging conditions, making it ideal for extended road trips.”

The Lucid Gravity Grand Touring boasts impressive specifications, featuring dual electric motors generating 828 horsepower and an acceleration of 0-100km in a claimed 3.6 seconds. Lucid is touting a projected range of over 720km on a single charge, a figure that, if validated by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), would position it as a leader in the electric SUV segment. This range is crucial for attracting Canadian consumers who frequently undertake long-distance travel, particularly in regions with limited charging infrastructure.

Lucid’s “Space Concept” design philosophy, previously showcased in the Air sedan, is central to the Gravity’s appeal. The interior prioritizes maximizing passenger and cargo space, accommodating up to seven adults comfortably. The vehicle also provides a substantial cargo capacity of nearly 3,400 liters, addressing a key requirement for SUV buyers.

A significant advantage for Lucid Gravity owners is the seamless integration with the Tesla Supercharger network via the integrated NACS charging port. This eliminates the need for adapters and provides access to Tesla’s extensive charging infrastructure across Canada. The Gravity Grand Touring’s 926V electrical architecture enables charging at up to 400kW on compatible 1000V charging equipment and sustained speeds of up to 225kW on 500V fast chargers, including Tesla V3 Superchargers. Lucid claims the Gravity can add over 320 kms of range in less than 11 minutes at peak charging rates.

Canadian customers can now configure their Lucid Gravity Grand Touring through the “Design Yours” configurator on the Lucid website. The Gravity aims to deliver the interior space and practicality of a full-size SUV within the exterior dimensions of a mid-size SUV.

Lucid’s aggressive push into the Canadian market reflects the growing demand for electric vehicles and the company’s strategic focus on expanding its global footprint. However, Lucid faces challenges in scaling production and managing costs to compete effectively with established automakers and emerging EV startups. The real-world performance and reliability of the Gravity, combined with the availability of charging infrastructure, will be critical factors in determining its success in the competitive Canadian market.
