Flexible payment options help 300+ business stay afloat across the Commonwealth
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Pennsylvania American Water, the largest investor-owned water and wastewater utility in the state, is offering flexible payment plans to assist over 300 businesses struggling with overdue balances. The company’s initiative aims to provide crucial support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) navigating financial challenges.
Greg Moreland, State Director for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) in Pennsylvania, emphasized the importance of this assistance for its members. “We encourage NFIB members that are Pennsylvania American Water customers and are experiencing financial hardship to take advantage of this program. With utility costs continuing to rise, such initiatives can provide meaningful relief.” He also indicated that NFIB encourages other Pennsylvania utilities to offer assistance to small businesses.
According to Pennsylvania American Water, over 100 commercial accounts have already completed installment plans, and more than 300 are currently active. The payment arrangement plans are designed on a case-by-case basis to address the unique financial circumstances of each customer.
Pennsylvania Small Business Advocate NazAarah Sabree highlighted the collaborative effort behind the program. “The Pennsylvania Office of Small Business Advocate successfully negotiated with Pennsylvania American Water Company to establish this first-ever formal program. Just as residential consumers benefit from essential programs and protections, small businesses, the lifeblood of Pennsylvania’s economy, must also have access to assistance that helps them remain stable and resilient during challenging times.”
Justin Ladner, President of Pennsylvania American Water, underscored the company’s commitment to supporting its customers. “We understand that financial difficulties arise for our customers – residential customers and business customers alike. Expanding our payment arrangement offering to non-residential customers is a recent enhancement we’ve made to help ensure all of our customers have options available that support their needs through challenging circumstances.”
Pennsylvania American Water business accounts experiencing financial hardship should contact the company’s Customer Service Organization at 1-800-565-7292 to discuss payment plan opportunities. This proactive approach allows the company to tailor payment solutions to the specific needs of each business, ensuring a more sustainable path to financial stability.
Pennsylvania American Water’s move reflects a broader trend in the utility sector, acknowledging the critical role SMEs play in the economy and the need for tailored support during economic uncertainty. Beyond payment plans, the company also offers a H2O Help to Others Program for residential customers facing financial difficulties.
