Compact SureColor S8170 Delivers Precise Output and Unparalleled Efficiency for Sign Shops
ORLANDO, Oct. 22, 2025 — Epson has unveiled its latest innovation in the signage industry: the SureColor S8170 solvent printer. Showcased at the PRINTING United Expo, the SureColor S8170 builds upon Epson’s SureColor S-Series, promising enhanced speed and precision for sign shops.
Epson’s new SureColor S8170 solvent printer is one of the most productive sign printers ever developed.
The SureColor S8170 is currently on display at PRINTING United Expo in Orlando, Florida.
The company claims the S8170 boasts print speeds over 20% faster than its predecessors, positioning it as a high-productivity solution for businesses dealing with signs, banners, stickers, and vehicle wraps. This speed enhancement, according to Epson, doesn’t compromise on print quality, a crucial factor for maintaining client satisfaction and securing repeat business in the competitive signage market.
At the heart of the SureColor S8170 lies its advanced printhead technology and a 6-color UltraChrome GS3 ink set. This combination allows for minimized banding even at the highest speeds, a common challenge in high-volume printing. The fast-drying ink also enables same-day lamination, a feature that can significantly reduce turnaround times and improve operational efficiency for print shops. The S8170 also offers flexible ink pack options (800mL or 1,500mL) with hot swap technology, virtually eliminating downtime by switching to a new ink pack mid-print.
From a technical standpoint, the printer incorporates a user-replaceable PrecisionCore Micro TFP printhead equipped with Nozzle Verification Technology and an integrated temperature sensor control. These features work in tandem to ensure consistent color output and print quality across different jobs and panels. The printer’s media handling system supports various substrates like vinyl, banner, canvas, and paper, increasing its appeal for businesses with diverse printing needs.
Epson is also bundling management software with the S8170, including a one-year subscription to ONYX Go Plus, Epson Edge Print Pro RIP software, and access to the Epson Cloud Solution PORT for streamlined production monitoring and fleet management. These features aim to provide businesses with data-driven insights helping them optimize workflows and minimize operational costs.

The SureColor S8170 will be available through Authorized Epson Professional Imaging Resellers with a one-year limited warranty. For additional information, visit www.epson.com/sseries.

3 Part of the ink from the first cartridges/packs is used for initializing the printer. Ink usage will vary considerably based on images printed, print settings, paper type, frequency of use, temperature and humidity. Variance may be more pronounced when printing infrequently or predominantly with one ink color. Ink is used for printing and printer maintenance, and all colors must be available for printing. For print quality, a variable amount of ink remains after the “replace ink” indicator comes on. |
