Dina Powell McCormick, a former official in the Trump administration, has stepped down from Meta’s board of directors. Her resignation was submitted to the company on Friday, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The filing did not provide a reason for her departure, stating only that it was effective immediately.

Meta does not currently plan to fill Powell McCormick’s vacant board seat. Sources close to the company indicate that she may be considering a strategic advisory role with Meta, though no formal agreement has been reached.

Powell McCormick joined Meta’s board in April, alongside Patrick Collison, the co-founder and CEO of Stripe. At the time of their appointments, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted their extensive experience in supporting businesses and entrepreneurs as valuable assets for the board. Powell McCormick previously served as a deputy national security advisor under President Trump and held the position of assistant secretary of state during the George W. Bush administration. She is married to Senator Dave McCormick.

Powell McCormick currently holds the positions of vice chair, president, and head of global client services at BDT & MSD Partners, a firm established in 2023 through the merger of BDT, a merchant bank, and MSD Capital, Michael Dell’s investment firm.

With Powell McCormick’s resignation, Meta’s board will now comprise 14 members. This group includes notable figures such as Dana White, CEO of the UFC; Hock Tan, CEO of Broadcom; and John Arnold, a former executive at Enron.
