Instagram stated that these alerts are intended to inform parents and provide them with resources to support their children. Meanwhile, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has indicated it will not pursue certain enforcement actions under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA) against online service operators who collect user data that can aid in age-verification technologies.
