The company announced it will soon offer U.S. users in-app access to licensed clinicians for on-demand consultations. This move, alongside a suite of new AI-driven health and wellness features rolling out globally, aims to bridge the gap between continuous biometric data collection and real-time medical guidance.

While many of these enhanced features will be integrated into the existing Whoop membership at no additional cost, live video consultations for U.S. users will incur an extra fee. Specific pricing and launch details are slated for release this summer, according to the company.

The new medical consultation service will commence with an in-depth analysis of the data meticulously gathered by the Whoop device. This will be augmented by relevant blood work results and a user’s medical history, as detailed in the company’s release. A Whoop spokesperson clarified to CNBC that these video consultations are designed to supplement, not supersede, a user’s primary healthcare provider or emergency medical services. Details regarding the potential for prescription services through this platform are still being finalized.

In a move to enhance data integration and user experience, Whoop is also partnering with HealthEx, a health records management platform. This development arrives less than a year after Whoop received a warning letter from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) concerning its Blood Pressure Insights feature. The FDA had cited concerns that Whoop was marketing an unauthorized medical device for diagnostic purposes. However, recent FDA guidance issued in January now permits optical sensing blood pressure measurements in wellness devices, provided they do not make “medical-grade” diagnostic claims. This regulatory shift likely provided a more conducive environment for Whoop to integrate more advanced health monitoring and consultation features.

The integration of licensed clinicians and robust health record management signifies Whoop’s ambition to position itself as a central hub for personal health, leveraging its continuous data streams to offer more actionable and medically informed insights.
