Nvidia and David Silver’s AI Startup, Ineffable Intelligence, Announce Partnership

Nvidia is partnering with AI startup Ineffable Intelligence, founded by former DeepMind leader David Silver, to develop “superlearners.” This collaboration focuses on building AI systems that learn continuously from real-world experience, a departure from traditional data-driven methods. Leveraging Nvidia’s advanced hardware and platforms, the partnership aims to create AI capable of discovering new knowledge autonomously, pushing the boundaries of artificial general intelligence.

Nvidia Partners with Groundbreaking AI Startup Ineffable Intelligence to Pioneer Superlearners

Nvidia, the undisputed titan of AI hardware, has forged a strategic alliance with Ineffable Intelligence, an ambitious AI startup founded by a former luminary from Google DeepMind. This collaboration signals a significant push into the realm of “superlearners” – AI systems designed to acquire knowledge and capabilities through continuous, real-world experience rather than solely relying on static datasets.

Ineffable Intelligence, established in late 2025 by Professor David Silver, a renowned figure in reinforcement learning and a former lead at Google DeepMind, is embarking on a mission to develop artificial general intelligence (AGI). The startup recently secured a staggering $1.1 billion in seed funding, a record-breaking round co-led by prominent venture capital firms Sequoia and Lightspeed, with notable participation from Nvidia, DST Global, Index, Google, and the U.K.’s Sovereign AI Fund.

The partnership with Nvidia is expected to be an engineering-level collaboration focused on building AI systems that learn through trial and error, a cornerstone of reinforcement learning. This approach allows AI models to adapt and improve by interacting with their environment, facing challenges, and adjusting their strategies based on the outcomes.

“The next frontier of AI is superlearners — systems that learn continuously from experience,” stated Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. “We are thrilled to partner with Ineffable Intelligence to codesign the infrastructure for large-scale reinforcement learning as they push the frontier of AI and pioneer a new generation of intelligent systems.”

This strategic alignment is particularly noteworthy given the distinct learning paradigm Ineffable Intelligence is pursuing. While many contemporary AI models are trained on vast quantities of human-generated data, Ineffable Intelligence is charting a course towards systems that learn from richer, more diverse forms of experience, potentially requiring novel model architectures and sophisticated training algorithms. This could unlock AI capabilities that extend beyond human comprehension and existing knowledge bases.

The collaboration will leverage Nvidia’s cutting-edge Grace Blackwell chips and its Vera Rubin platform to construct a robust pipeline capable of supporting reinforcement learning systems at an unprecedented scale. Engineers from both organizations will work in tandem to engineer the foundational infrastructure for these advanced AI systems.

“Researchers have largely solved the easier problem of AI: how to build systems that know all the things humans already know,” commented David Silver. “But now we need to solve the harder problem of AI: how to build systems that discover new knowledge for themselves. That requires a very different approach — systems that learn from experience.”

This partnership emerges amidst a burgeoning trend of AI labs being founded by elite talent departing from Big Tech companies. In recent months, several highly funded ventures have surfaced, attracting substantial investment. Notably, Recursive Superintelligence, founded by former Google DeepMind engineer Tim Rocktäschel, recently announced a $650 million funding round. AMI Labs, established by Yann LeCun after his departure from Meta, raised $1 billion in March. These ventures, alongside others like Periodic Labs and Humans&, underscore a significant migration of top AI minds and a fervent investor appetite for disruptive AI innovation.

The collaboration between Nvidia and Ineffable Intelligence is poised to accelerate the development of more autonomous, adaptive, and potentially more powerful AI systems, marking a significant step forward in the ongoing quest for artificial general intelligence.
