The scope of work is substantial, encompassing the construction of a state-of-the-art, seven-story, steel-clad facility between 9th and 10th Avenues, and West 39th to West 40th Streets. This modern hub will offer indoor storage for up to 350 buses and will serve as a vital interim terminal during the ongoing construction of the new main bus terminal. Complementing this, the project also involves building an innovative ramp structure spanning the block from 10th to 11th Avenues, between 39th and 40th Streets. This ramp is engineered to facilitate seamless bus movement to and from the elevated bus levels of the replacement facility and the Lincoln Tunnel.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this landmark project, which promises to significantly elevate the commuter experience and regional transportation network for the entire New York City metropolitan area,” stated Gary Smalley, Chief Executive Officer and President of Tutor Perini. “Tutor Perini boasts a proud legacy of successful collaborations with the Port Authority on large-scale, complex transportation infrastructure, including our recent work on Newark Liberty International Airport’s Terminal A. We are eager to build upon this strong partnership and deliver this pivotal project with the utmost success.”
Construction is slated to commence in the fall of 2025, with the currently funded and scheduled portions expected to conclude in the fall of 2028. This substantial contract award will be integrated into the Company’s backlog during the second quarter of 2025.
