The shadowy figures of online detractors, often dubbed “black mouths” in business circles, pose a systemic threat to market order and the entrepreneurial ecosystem. By spreading malicious falsehoods and damaging the reputations and interests of specific enterprises, these online trolls sow discord and undermine legitimate commercial activities.

In a decisive move to counter this trend, China’s Cyberspace Administration has launched a nationwide, two-month special campaign. Titled “Qinglang: Optimizing the Online Business Environment – Cracking Down on Business-Targeting Online Trolls,” the initiative aims to rigorously tackle the rampant issue of these digital agitators harming businesses.

Illustrating the gravitas of this crackdown, Hefei police recently apprehended an individual accused of disseminating false information to tarnish the reputation of Visionox Technology Inc. The allegations centered on portraying the company’s displays as “blind screens,” a claim that, if untrue, could have severe repercussions for the company’s brand and consumer trust.

The New Station Branch of the Hefei Public Security Bureau swiftly initiated an investigation following a report on the evening of June 26, 2025. Their efforts led to the identification and apprehension of a suspect, identified as Yang Moumou, a 37-year-old male.

Investigations revealed that Yang allegedly engaged in the repeated malicious fabrication and dissemination of false information across social media platforms, with the explicit intent to attack the quality of the company’s products.

Consequently, law enforcement has taken criminal coercive measures against the suspect, with the case currently undergoing further investigation.

Police authorities have issued a stern reminder: the internet is not a lawless frontier. Violators who fabricate and spread false information online, thereby maliciously disrupting public order, will face severe legal repercussions. The public is urged to adhere to all relevant laws and regulations, collectively contributing to a clean and healthy cyberspace.
