CNBC AI News, July 23rd – A social media firestorm has erupted around Jiangxi RunTian Mineral Water after a series of eyebrow-raising claims made by Wei Miaomiao, the wife of its founder, Huang Angen.

Wei Miaomiao took to social media to air what she termed “family scandals,” alleging that Huang Angen has had four marriages and fathered five children, two of whom are hers.

She stated, “My husband sells mineral water and has multiple wives and children,” setting off a wave of online speculation and media attention.

On her Douyin (TikTok) account, self-styled as “Baozao Shiyi Jie” (“Raging Billionaire Sister”), Wei Miaomiao identifies herself as the “boss lady founder” of Jiangxi RunTian, implying a publicly listed company, and the mother of two daughters. She further claims connections to two pre-IPO companies in Shenzhen, Qinwo and Hanso Jianyuan.

However, investigations reveal that while Huang Angen was indeed the legal representative and ultimate controller of Jiangxi RunTian Beverage Co., Ltd. (founded January 7, 2003), he exited the company a decade ago.

On July 22nd, RunTian released an official statement via its WeChat account, disavowing any connection between Huang Angen and Wei Miaomiao and Jiangxi RunTian Industry Co., Ltd. The company further stated it would pursue legal action against any false or misleading statements regarding the company.

According to the statement, in October 2014, creditors of RunTian Beverage restructured the company, leading to the formation of Jiangxi RunTian Industry Co., Ltd., which assumed RunTian Beverage’s liabilities.

Following the restructuring, RunTian Industry became the sole entity engaged in the production and distribution of “RunTian” purified water and “RunTian Cui” mineral water. In 2016, the company transitioned from a private enterprise to a state-controlled enterprise after the introduction of state-owned capital.

Huang Angen and Wei Miaomiao have had no equity or employment relationship with RunTian Industry. RunTian Beverage, where Huang Angen served as the legal representative, had its business license revoked on June 5, 2020.

Adding to the complexity, RunTian Natural Beverage, established in 1998 with a registered capital of 300 million yuan, was deregistered on April 9, 2024. RunTian Beverage, founded in 2003, met a similar fate on June 5, 2020.

Intriguingly, Wei Miaomiao told a media outlet on July 22nd that the core of her explosive revelations centers around resolving outstanding debt issues.

Wei Miaomiao claims that in 2014, Cha Jiazhi, the then legal representative of Fengyuan Industry, signed a restructuring agreement with Huang Angen, acquiring all of the debts and claims of the “old” RunTian (RunTian Natural Beverage).

Subsequently, Cha Jiazhi allegedly introduced Jiangxi state-owned capital, cashed out his stake, and left. However, the debt repayment obligations assumed by Cha Jiazhi in the restructuring agreement remain unfulfilled after ten years, leaving Huang Angen labeled a defaulter.

The RunTian saga reportedly began in 1994. In 2008, RunTian completed its corporate restructuring. In 2009, RunTian Beverage submitted IPO documents but ultimately shelved its listing plans due to unfavorable market conditions.

From 2014 onwards, RunTian Beverage faced allegations of wage arrears and unpaid distributor invoices. Media reports in 2014 indicated that the company was grappling with a severe debt crisis.

At the time, Xu Zhihong, the company’s administrative director, stated that numerous potential investors were engaged in merger and restructuring discussions, and the company had been placed under the trusteeship of Fengyuan Industry.

RunTian Industry was formally established in 2014. In 2016, it introduced state capital, transitioning into a state-controlled mixed-ownership enterprise. Concurrently, Huang Angen exited RunTian Beverage.

Currently, 17 companies where Huang Angen serves as the legal representative are either deregistered or revoked. Huang Angen is listed as a defaulter, with total debts amounting to 11.38 million yuan.
