Expro Unveils Game-Changing Packer System, Raising the Bar for Deepwater Performance

Expro (NYSE:XPRO), a heavyweight in energy services, is upping the ante in deepwater drilling with the launch of its BRUTE^® High-Pressure, High Tensile Packer System. This isn’t just another upgrade; it’s a total revamp designed for the extreme rigors of deepwater wells. This tech allows operators to set equipment higher in the wellbore, potentially slashing rig time, diminishing operational risks, and streamlining regulatory paperwork.

Brute Armor

The BRUTE^® Armor Packer isn’t just a product launch, it signifies how far Expro’s BRUTE^® product line has come. This positions Expro as the sole player equipped to support 20k deepwater projects at this level, a key advantage in this niche, competitive market. When paired with the BRUTE^® 2 Storm Valve, they will together form the industry’s most robust Storm/Service Packer and Valve combination on the market.

Expro, already a known quantity in deepwater downhole solutions, was handpicked by an energy super-major for a demanding 20k development in the Gulf of America. The initial deployment of the 12.25” BRUTE^® Armor Packer System (rated at 12,850 psid ) in April 2025, has already demonstrated its pressure integrity and overall performance in challenging underground environments.

Riding the momentum from the 12.25” Packer System’s success, Expro is also rolling out a new 20”/22” Packer System. This addresses concerns, such as subsea high-pressure wellhead housings and supplemental casing adapters, common in traditional 20” and 22” retrievable mechanical packer systems. Boasting twice the expansion capacity of its forerunners, the new system targets operations like casing testing, suspension, and squeeze applications delivering efficient, reliable performance.

The 20”/22” Packer System made its debut in June 2025, during a major offshore campaign for a energy super-major in the Gulf of America. The packer navigated bottlenecks in the high-pressure wellhead housing and supplemental casing adapter before installation in a larger ID below.
