The company announced today a groundbreaking initiative: “AI nutrition labels” designed to demystify the technology powering its suite of public safety and enterprise security products.
Taking a cue from the food industry’s labeling revolution, Motorola Solutions aims to provide clear, concise information about the AI “ingredients” baked into its products. This move positions them as a frontrunner in responsible AI deployment within the sector.

“We firmly believe that AI, as a cornerstone of safety and security, must be deployed with intention and openness to truly become a force for good,” stated Mahesh Saptharishi, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Motorola Solutions. “These labels act as a guide, outlining AI’s role in protecting communities and countries. Each “AI nutrition label” will detail critical aspects such as the type of AI employed, data ownership protocols, the safeguards of human oversight and the intended purpose of the AI application within the product.
Motorola Solutions emphasizes that AI is integral to its safety and security ecosystem, designed to deliver accurate, actionable, and reliable intelligence. The company’s strategy revolves around assisting users by providing contextual understanding derived from a multitude of sources during incidents. This assists in prioritising actions and effectively interpreting the vast amount of dynamic information available.
