On the evening of August 28, 2020, while making deliveries, Zhao encountered a residential building fire. Demonstrating extraordinary courage, he entered the burning building at least five times to fight the flames and evacuate residents. He was eventually hospitalized due to smoke inhalation and subsequently honored as a “Citizen of Courage” by the Jinjiang District of Chengdu and named a “Good Person of Sichuan Province.”
In 2023, Zhao was recognized by the China National Light Industry, Textiles and Tobacco Union as one of the inaugural “Most Beautiful Delivery Riders” and was also nominated as a candidate for the first batch of Five-Star Civilized Riders in Chengdu.
