Tragedy struck Yosemite National Park earlier this month, according to reports from outlets including the *New York Post*.
Angela Lin, a 29-year-old Google engineer, tragically passed away on July 19th after being struck by a falling tree branch while hiking.
Lin was hiking the Tuolumne Grove Trail with her boyfriend and two friends when the incident occurred. The group had ventured approximately one mile from the parking area when they heard a loud cracking sound above them.
Within seconds, multiple branches plummeted from the tree, one of which struck Lin directly on the head. Smaller branches landed just behind her boyfriend.
Lin collapsed, suffering severe head trauma. Her boyfriend immediately called 911 and attempted CPR. Park rangers arrived to assist, followed by paramedics, but unfortunately, Lin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, park officials temporarily closed the trail for a week. The Tuolumne Grove Trail has since reopened. As of yet, park authorities have not released an official statement regarding the accident.
