Within seconds, multiple branches plummeted from the tree, one of which struck Lin directly on the head. Smaller branches landed just behind her boyfriend.

Lin collapsed, suffering severe head trauma. Her boyfriend immediately called 911 and attempted CPR. Park rangers arrived to assist, followed by paramedics, but unfortunately, Lin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the incident, park officials temporarily closed the trail for a week. The Tuolumne Grove Trail has since reopened. As of yet, park authorities have not released an official statement regarding the accident.
