Arm is expanding into the edge AI market, offering its Armv9 platform to startups via the Flexible Access program. This provides access to Arm technologies and resources, de-risking chip design and fostering innovation. The Armv9 platform, featuring the Cortex-A320 and Ethos-U85 NPU, enables on-device AI processing for applications like intelligent cameras and smart home devices, addressing latency, bandwidth, and privacy concerns. VDC predicts AI will dominate IoT by 2028, and Arm aims to capitalize on this growth by making advanced technology accessible to developers involved in edge AI solutions.

Ambarella (AMBA) shares jumped 20% after Q2 earnings beat expectations. Adjusted earnings were 15 cents per share versus the expected 5 cents, with revenue at $96 million against the projected $90 million. The chip designer anticipates Q3 revenue between $100 million and $108 million, exceeding estimates. Ambarella also raised its fiscal year revenue growth outlook to 31-35%, driven by strong demand for its edge AI solutions in portable video, drones, and edge infrastructure. CEO Fermi Wang emphasized the company’s successful strategic investment in edge AI R&D.

Elliptic Labs and Ceva are collaborating to integrate Elliptic Labs’ AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform with Ceva’s NeuPro-Nano NPU. This partnership empowers Ceva customers to create context-aware, intelligent features in edge devices. The combined solution will enable precise, optimized AI models for improved user experience in applications such as wearables and industrial sensors, accelerating intelligent sensing development across various AIoT applications.
