Pony.ai is expanding into Europe through a partnership with Stellantis to deploy robotaxis, starting with testing in Luxembourg and aiming for a phased rollout across European cities from 2026. Stellantis will provide electric vehicles while Pony.ai contributes its autonomous driving software. This follows Pony.ai’s ongoing robotaxi testing in Beijing and reflects the increasing competition among companies like Waymo to commercialize autonomous driving technology in new global markets. Chinese regulatory clearance for Pony.ai and WeRide could further fuel their global expansion and AI development.

Stellantis and Pony.ai are partnering to develop autonomous robotaxi services in Europe. The collaboration will integrate Pony.ai’s self-driving software with Stellantis’ AV-Ready Platform, initially focusing on battery-electric medium-size vans designed for SAE Level 4 autonomy. Testing commences in Luxembourg using the Peugeot e-Traveller, with broader European deployment planned for 2026. The partnership aims to leverage Stellantis’ LCV market leadership and Pony.ai’s expertise to revolutionize urban mobility with safer and more affordable transportation options.

Pony.ai and WeRide, autonomous driving tech firms already listed in the US, have received approval from China’s regulator for secondary listings on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX). Each plans to issue approximately 102 million new shares. This move aims to secure capital for global expansion into regions like the Middle East and Europe. Pony.ai CEO cites Hong Kong’s proximity to China as a key factor. Both companies are also expanding robotaxi operations, partnering with Uber in the US and operating in Chinese cities.

Pony.ai is entering the Singaporean market in partnership with ComfortDelGro to launch autonomous vehicle (AV) services, initially in the Punggol district. This move aligns with Singapore’s smart mobility vision and aims to address driver shortages. The partnership builds on a previous MoU and a successful pilot program in Guangzhou. The Singaporean government supports AV integration, with plans to deploy AVs within public housing estates. Pony.ai currently operates driverless Robotaxi services in multiple Chinese cities and is expanding globally, including partnerships in Qatar and Luxembourg.

Pony.ai has secured a permit for fully driverless commercial Robotaxi services in Shanghai’s Pudong New Area, making it the only company with such permits in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. The initial rollout will focus on the Jinqiao and Huamu business districts, located near Shanghai’s financial center. The operating zone in Pudong spans nearly 1,400 square kilometers with over 5 million residents. This demonstrates increasing regulatory trust and represents a major milestone for the company.

Pony AI has initiated mass production of its seventh-generation robotaxi platform through partnerships with GAC (June 2025) and BAIC (July 2025), advancing commercialization. The new system achieves full automotive-grade component certification, reduces autonomous hardware costs by 70%, and features scalable architecture for cross-vehicle adaptation. Targeting deployment of 1,000 operational vehicles globally by late 2025, the company is conducting extensive road testing in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. These advancements position Pony AI to overcome scalability barriers and set industry benchmarks for cost-efficient autonomous fleet deployment.
