In a move underscoring the growing importance of technology leadership in China’s burgeoning electric vehicle market, Zhu Jiangming, founder, chairman, and CEO of Leapmotor, has been recognized as a 2025 Zhejiang Province Science Entrepreneur. This prestigious award, announced during the 2025 National Science and Technology Workers Day celebrations held in Hangzhou, places Zhu at the forefront of innovation, as he is the sole recipient from the automotive sector.
The award citation highlighted Zhu’s groundbreaking contributions to the EV landscape, specifically noting his pioneering work in core technologies such as the CTC (cell-to-chassis) battery integration and Leapmotor’s “four-leaf clover” central electronic and electrical architecture. These technological advancements are credited with significantly boosting China’s competitive advantage in the global EV arena.
Upon receiving the accolade, Zhu emphasized that the achievement was a testament to the dedication and innovation of the entire Leapmotor engineering team.
Notably, Zhejiang Province launched its Science Entrepreneurship Program in 2024, the first of its kind at the provincial level in China. The initiative aims to identify and nurture a cohort of entrepreneurial leaders equipped with scientific expertise, a global outlook, and the ability to drive innovation. Over 400 entrepreneurs participated in the selection process.
The program recognized 10 Science Entrepreneurs and 10 Young Science Entrepreneurs, alongside a selection of 100 additional Science Entrepreneurs and 100 Young Science Entrepreneurs, constructing a dynamic talent pool of over 1,000 individuals.
