In a move that has ignited interest across the tech and business sectors, tech influencer Wang Ziru, a name synonymous with product reviews and analysis, has announced his reentry into the AI arena after a stint at electrical appliance giant, Gree.
In a freshly released video, Wang detailed his departure from Gree, revealing both the allure of the opportunity and the challenges that ultimately led him to pursue a new venture. He described his reasons for joining Gree in 2020 as a near-perfect alignment with the elements of “industrial internet,” a crucial opportunity he deemed unmissable. He characterized the experience as a chance to compete at the highest levels, but also alluded to the demands and constraints that came with the role.
During his tenure at Gree, Wang, for professional reasons, also stepped back from the internet, focusing instead on overhauling the entire sales infrastructure, including sales, warehousing, logistics, and after-sales service, over several years.
Perhaps most strikingly, Wang didn’t mince words when discussing his departure, stating it was “the worst time of his life.”
Furthermore, Wang revisited the topic of compensation, stating that the specifics, such as salary, may not be the most important factor if one has a clear vision of what they want to achieve.
This update follows previous comments made in 2023 during an interview, where Wang addressed questions about his integration with Gree and any speculation about his relationship with Gree Chairwoman Dong Mingzhu.
At that time, Wang had stated that he had never reviewed his salary information while at Gree. His primary request upon joining the company was to be based near Dong Mingzhu’s office, so he could provide updates, seeing other considerations as less significant.
