As China’s highly competitive National College Entrance Examination, or Gaokao, kicked off today, food delivery giant Meituan announced a rewards program designed to support its delivery riders who assist students during the crucial exam period.
According to an official statement, Meituan will offer cash bonuses to riders who provide assistance to students or their families facing unexpected challenges. This includes situations like forgotten identification or stationery, or transportation issues potentially impacting their ability to take the exam.
Riders who are praised by students, parents, or local authorities will be designated “Pioneer Riders” and awarded up to 2,000 yuan. Furthermore, exceptional acts of assistance may qualify for additional special rewards, following a review by the platform.
Recognizing that helping students could impact delivery times, Meituan also addressed potential order complications. Riders who experience delays or cancellations due to road closures, assisting students, or transporting them to exam venues will be exempt from penalties.
Riders can simply explain the situation through the Meituan app or by contacting customer service.
