RingCentral AI Receptionist Integrates Shopify, Calendly, and WhatsApp

RingCentral is significantly upgrading its AI Receptionist (AIR) by integrating with Shopify, Calendly, and WhatsApp. This allows AIR to handle order inquiries, schedule appointments, and manage customer chats. It also supports multilingual conversations and integrates into shared inboxes and call queues. Businesses are seeing reduced wait times and improved satisfaction, with AIR evolving into a “digital employee” for SMBs, offered as a standalone product or add-on.

RingCentral is significantly enhancing its AI Receptionist (AIR) product, integrating it with popular platforms like Shopify, Calendly, and WhatsApp. This strategic move aims to propel AIR beyond its current capabilities of basic call answering and into more sophisticated, routine customer service functions.

The expanded AI Receptionist can now adeptly manage order inquiries through Shopify, facilitate appointment scheduling via Calendly, and engage with customers through inbound WhatsApp messages. Furthermore, AIR is being embedded into shared SMS inboxes and call queues, enabling it to handle text-based communication and seamlessly step in when phone lines are overwhelmed or staff are unavailable.

RingCentral reports that over 11,800 businesses are currently leveraging the AI Receptionist. The product is primarily tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises that regularly manage a high volume of inbound customer interactions. Key sectors benefiting from AIR include healthcare, financial services, legal, hospitality, and construction, where it’s being deployed for front-desk operations and after-hours support.

Real-world adoption underscores AIR’s efficacy. Keller Interiors, an installation firm partnered with Lowe’s Home Improvement, has implemented AIR across 33 of its locations. Beth Owens, Chief of Staff at Keller Interiors, highlighted a persistent routing challenge that proved difficult to resolve with human resources alone. “RingCentral AIR solved a problem we didn’t have a good human answer for, how do you route every inbound call correctly, 24/7, across 33 locations, without building a call center?” Owens remarked. She credits AIR with reducing average customer wait times from 12 minutes to just 90 seconds, concurrently boosting customer satisfaction scores by three points within a four-month period.

Similarly, Tara Breaux, Vice President of Operations at Maple Federal Credit Union, shared how AIR has been instrumental in reducing hold times at their branches. “We’ve reduced hold times by 90%, enabling faster service, less strain on staff, and more focus on the conversations that matter most,” Breaux stated.

The newly introduced Shopify integration empowers AIR to address fundamental order-related queries and customer support issues over the phone. The Calendly interface allows AIR to manage appointment bookings efficiently, while the WhatsApp integration extends its reach into a messaging application widely used by consumers and businesses alike.

RingCentral is also incorporating automatic language detection into AIR. The system can now identify a caller’s language and sustain the conversation in their preferred tongue, offering support in ten languages, including English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Portuguese.

Industry analysts recognize the significance of these advancements. Michelle Morgan, Research Manager for AI-enabled sales, customer service, and contact center strategies at IDC, views these updates as a prime example of applied AI in everyday business operations. “RingCentral’s expansion of AIR into Shopify, Calendly, WhatsApp, and intelligent call queues shows what applied AI should look like: every feature tied to a clear pain point,” Morgan commented.

Joe Fahrner, RingCentral’s Vice President of Growth for AI Products, articulated the company’s broader vision for AIR, describing it as increasingly evolving into a “digital employee” for small and mid-market businesses. This signifies a shift towards AI not just as a tool, but as an integrated, functional member of a company’s operational team.

RingCentral AI Receptionist is now available as a standalone product, starting at $49 per month, which includes 100 minutes of usage. Existing RingEX customers can add AIR to their plans for a starting price of $39 per month, also inclusive of 100 minutes. This tiered pricing strategy aims to make advanced AI capabilities accessible to a wider range of businesses.
