China’s Douyin App Teams Up with Government Agencies to Fight Scams

Douyin, ByteDance’s short-video platform, launched an “Anti-Fraud Open Day” event in Beijing ahead of National Anti-Fraud Awareness Month 2025. They announced the “Douyin Anti-Fraud Alliance” with government bodies and appointed eight Anti-Fraud Ambassadors. Douyin actively fights fraud, suspending over 80,000 scam accounts daily and intercepting millions of suspicious posts, while proactively sending user alerts.

As National Anti-Fraud Awareness Month approaches in 2025, ByteDance’s short-video platform, Douyin, hosted a “Anti-Fraud Open Day” event in Beijing, signaling a proactive stance against digital scams.

The event saw the launch of the “Douyin Anti-Fraud Alliance”, a collaborative initiative with the Beijing Municipal Cyberspace Affairs Office, the Beijing Communications Administration, and the Beijing Anti-Fraud Center. The program encourages user participation through activities such as signing pledges, creating educational videos, and participating in quizzes within live streams.

Further emphasizing its commitment, Douyin also appointed eight prominent content creators, including esteemed figures like Shi Mao Zhu, Hao Dong, Ping Ni, Gong Feng, and Tao Zhou, as Anti-Fraud Ambassadors. These ambassadors will work alongside the platform to disseminate anti-fraud information and cultivate greater user awareness.

Douyin’s efforts to combat fraudulent activities are substantial. The platform currently suspends over 80,000 scam-related accounts daily and effectively intercepts more than 4 million suspicious posts/comments. Additionally, it is sending approximately 7 million in-app notifications to proactively alert users.
