Xiaomi is rolling out a new employee housing initiative, providing affordable apartments for its young engineers.
The company’s founder, Lei Jun, announced on social media that these new dormitories, located near Xiaomi’s Changping campus in Beijing, will be available for a monthly rent of 1,999 yuan (approximately $275 USD). With a total of 2,600 units, priority will be given to recent graduates.
Detailed by Xiaomi Group’s Vice President, Zhang Jianhui, the project aims to enhance employee well-being and foster a vibrant young professional lifestyle. These “Xiaomi Youth Apartments” feature 29-square-meter studio units, fully furnished for a seamless move-in experience. Residents can enjoy smart living amenities, communal kitchens, a fitness center, and a cinema room, all set within a green, tree-lined environment. Xiaomi’s message to its employees? “Just bring yourself and your dreams; leave the rest to Xiaomi.”
The announcement also touched upon the expansion of such facilities, with Zhang Jianhui responding to an inquiry about the Xiaomi car factory employees. She assured that housing plans for the car factory’s workforce are in development.
Further enhancing convenience, the apartments are equipped with integrated access control through Xiaomi’s employee ID cards. Residents can also anticipate 24/7 on-site management services, including app-based repair requests, moving assistance, and package handling.
Commuting is made easy with a dedicated shuttle service directly connecting the apartments to the company’s various campuses. The residence is approximately 10 kilometers from the main Xiaomi Technology Park and just 3 kilometers from the Xiaomi Smart Industrial Park.
