Importantly, drivers should resist the urge to rapidly cool overheated tires with water. This sudden temperature change can cause the tire’s rubber compound to contract dramatically, potentially leading to structural damage and increasing the risk of a blowout. Natural cooling is the recommended approach.
In the unfortunate event of a tire blowout, maintaining composure is paramount. Avoid instinctively slamming on the brakes or making sharp steering corrections, as these actions can destabilize the vehicle and lead to loss of control. Instead, gently release the accelerator to allow the vehicle to decelerate naturally.
