CNBC AI News, July 29th – As China rolls out its national childcare subsidy program, some companies are already stepping up with their own initiatives focused on marriage and family.
Notably, Miniso (NYSE: MNSO) took a proactive stance back in March of last year, launching its “Miniso Group Marriage and Childbirth Incentive Program.” The company initially committed ¥10 million (approximately $1.4 million USD) to establish a dedicated fund, providing comprehensive support to employees with at least one year of tenure as they navigate marriage and parenthood.
The Miniso Marriage and Childbirth Fund is structured around two key benefits: marriage and childbirth.
Regarding marriage benefits, employees who register their marriage while employed by Miniso are eligible for a one-time marriage gift of ¥10,000 (approximately $1,400 USD) per family.
The childbirth benefits offer a tiered incentive structure: employees receive ¥10,000 (approximately $1,400 USD) for their first child, ¥20,000 (approximately $2,800 USD) for their second, and ¥30,000 (approximately $4,200 USD) for their third. The incentive increases by ¥10,000 for each additional child, with no upper limit. Multiple births within a single pregnancy qualify for multiple rewards.
Interestingly, Miniso emphasizes gender equality in parenthood. Male employees applying for childbirth benefits are required to complete online courses covering postpartum care and parenting skills, reinforcing the importance of shared responsibility in raising children.
As of July 2025, the Miniso Marriage and Childbirth Fund has disbursed a total of ¥2.66 million (approximately $370,000 USD), benefiting over 200 employee families. This includes marriage gifts awarded to 111 newly married couples and childbirth incentives for 114 families, rewarding them based on the tiered “¥10,000 for one child, ¥20,000 for two children, and unlimited” structure.
