Samsara Drives Efficiency with Pre-Delivery Telematics Through Daimler Truck and Fontaine Modification Partnerships

SAN FRANCISCO – In a move poised to streamline fleet operations and bolster efficiency, Samsara Inc. (NYSE: IOT), the company behind the Connected Operations® Platform, is rolling out its new Pre-Delivery Installation program. This initiative, forged through key partnerships with Daimler Truck North America LLC and Fontaine Modification, addresses a critical pain point for fleet managers: the downtime associated with installing telematics and camera systems on newly acquired vehicles.

The program allows for Samsara’s hardware to be pre-installed either at Daimler Truck’s facilities or at Fontaine Modification’s upfitting centers, ensuring that new trucks arrive ready to integrate seamlessly into existing fleet management systems.

“At Southeastern Freight Lines, we constantly seek ways to get vehicles on the road faster and more efficiently,” said Robbie McLain at Southeastern Freight Lines. “Through an early trial of Samsara’s Pre-Delivery Installation program, we received new trucks with Samsara hardware pre-installed via Fontaine Modification, which helped us to integrate the vehicles into operations immediately upon delivery, saving time and money.”

Deeper Dive: The Perks for Fleets

• Turnkey Vehicle Delivery: With enterprise fleets experiencing an average of 20% turnover annually, the time spent outfitting new vehicles can be a significant drain. This program delivers trucks pre-equipped with Samsara’s suite of technologies, including Vehicle Gateways (VGs), AI Dash Cams, and the AI Multicam system, accelerating the time to deployment.
• Automated Subscription Activation: The program activates subscriptions upon vehicle shipment, ensuring that the hardware is online and ready to go before the truck even reaches the customer’s yard. This maximizes the return on investment from day one.
• Reduced Administrative Burden: Eliminating the need for separate procurement and installation processes, select OEMs and upfitters can now order Samsara hardware directly for the customer. This streamlined approach simplifies logistics and ensures proper integration and support.

Strategic Partnerships: A Win-Win for All

Daimler Truck North America is integrating Samsara’s hardware directly into Freightliner and Western Star trucks at its Custom Truck Services (CTS) facilities. This factory installation ensures that every system meets the automaker’s stringent standards, guaranteeing consistent quality and minimizing potential issues down the line.

Fontaine Modification, a prominent player in aftermarket commercial truck modification, will handle Samsara device installations at its various modification centers across the U.S. Their expertise and close relationships with OEMs allow them to provide tailored pre-delivery installations to suit each fleet’s unique needs.
