SAIC-GM-Wuling and Huawei Deepen Partnership, Launch First Model: Baojun Huajing S

SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), a joint venture between SAIC Motor, General Motors, and Liuzhou Wuling Motors, is deepening its strategic partnership with Huawei Technologies, announcing a comprehensive upgrade focused on autonomous driving, smart cockpits, and intelligent manufacturing. The agreement, signed in Liuzhou on September 6th, signals a significant push towards high-quality development in the intelligent and connected vehicle sector.

The first vehicle to showcase this enhanced collaboration is the Baojun Huajing S, a new flagship large six-seater SUV from the Baojun brand. The Huajing S will come standard with Huawei’s advanced solutions, including the HUAWEI ADS 4 autonomous driving system, HarmonySpace 5 smart cockpit, and HUAWEI IVCS vehicle cloud service. Notably, it will also be among the first models to feature Huawei’s in-cabin laser vision (Limera) technology, promising a significant leap in the overall user experience.

Beyond the Huajing S, the partnership will leverage Huawei’s expertise in intelligent solutions to enhance SGMW’s existing proprietary technologies, namely Lingmou (Advanced Driver Assistance System), Lingyu (intelligent cockpit), Lingxi (Powertrain), and Shenlian (Battery). This integration is expected to create a synergistic effect, boosting product competitiveness. Furthermore, SGMW’s Intelligent Island Manufacturing System (I²MS) will be upgraded using Huawei’s high-reliability production network, AI, and big data technologies to enhance the smart manufacturing capabilities of SGMW.

SGMW, a leading Chinese automaker with over 30 million vehicles sold, brings to the table its extensive user base, diverse application scenarios, and advanced manufacturing capabilities. The company’s technological prowess is evident in its I²MS, integrated 12-in-1 electric drive system, and Shenlian semi-solid-state battery technology.

Huawei, a global leader in ICT infrastructure and smart devices, provides a complete suite of technologies for connected vehicles, accelerating the automotive industry’s transition towards intelligent solutions. The demand for Huawei’s Qiankun intelligent driving, HarmonyOS smart cockpit, and Qiankun vehicle cloud service shows how well they are perceived by users, and more than 1 million vehicles are now equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun intelligent driving system.

The collaboration between SGMW and Huawei, dating back to 2018, is rooted in shared values and a proven track record. This is expected to enhance the automotive industry in Guangxi, facilitate new quality productive forces, build an open and prosperous intelligent vehicle ecosystem, and provide users with safer, more convenient, and smarter mobility experiences. The move could also strategically position SGMW to better compete with rising EV brands in China, some of which are also partnering with tech giants for connected car advancements.
