At the 2025 Future Automotive Pioneers Conference held in Shenzhen, Seres Group Chairman Zhang Xinghai painted a picture of intensified collaboration, describing his company’s investment in Huawei’s automotive technology spin-off, 引望 (InnoVision), as a deepening of an already strong relationship.
Speaking at the conference, Zhang emphasized the strategic significance of Seres’ move, stating they told Richard Yu, the head of Huawei’s consumer business, that the alliance was “like family,” and that it would further empower the AITO brand vehicles.
InnoVision, established by Huawei in January 2024, focuses on intelligent automotive systems and component solutions, spanning intelligent driving, smart cockpits, vehicle control, cloud services, and in-vehicle lighting. This makes the investment a significant step for Seres into a core area of future automotive technology.
Seres, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, announced in August 2024 its plan to invest RMB 11.5 billion in InnoVision, securing a 10% equity stake and a seat on the board of directors. The investment is a signal of the company’s continued commitment to the technology behind its high-end AITO brand.
The AITO brand, a collaborative effort between Seres and Huawei, has already launched a series of popular vehicles. The M5, M7, M8, and M9 models have all been brought to market through this strategic partnership, highlighting the fruits of their combined efforts.
