Relong Headquarters Denies Shutdown or Layoffs, Dismisses Runaway Risk Concerns

Romoss denies bankruptcy rumors amidst a large-scale power bank recall. Employees at their Shenzhen headquarters report normal operations with no layoffs. The company states refunds for recalled products are being processed within 15-30 days after verification. However, reports indicate delays on Taobao due to insufficient seller deposits.

CNBC AI News reports on July 4th that Romoss, a company embroiled in a massive power bank recall, is reportedly facing significant operational headwinds.

Whispers turned into online chatter, with the hashtag “Romoss Bankruptcy” trending on Weibo. However, the company’s official social media account has issued a denial, firmly refuting any claims of imminent collapse.

Sources speaking to Sina Technology paint a picture of continued operations at Romoss’ Shenzhen headquarters, with employees still present and working in the office spaces.

One Romoss employee, speaking on condition of anonymity, emphasized that the company is not facing a “run on its assets” scenario.

The employee further clarified that there have been no layoffs. “Companies have to pay severance for layoffs. You can come back next week, and we’ll still be here,” they stated, adding that salaries continue to be disbursed on schedule.

Regarding the ongoing power bank recall, an on-site employee detailed the process for affected users. Customers are required to provide order numbers and batch information. Upon successful verification, a refund is expected to be processed within 15 to 30 days, provided the product meets the recall criteria.

It’s important to note that the recall currently pertains to specific product batches. Users who have not received any notification may not yet meet the criteria for the recall.

Romoss had previously announced a recall impacting 491,745 units of three of its ROMOSS branded power bank models manufactured between June 5, 2023, and July 31, 2024.

Recent reports on social media platforms have highlighted issues where users attempting to process refunds for Romoss power banks through the brand’s official Taobao store encountered delays, citing insufficient seller deposit balances.

A Taobao customer service representative, “Tao Xiaomi,” confirmed that due to the seller’s insufficient funds, the platform has initiated a payment demand, with a 30-day response period.
