Lynk & Co. recently hosted a “CO:TALK” event in Zhengzhou, China, on August 14th, showcasing their latest technological advancements and strategic vision, with a particular emphasis on the Lynk EM-P Super Range-Extended Electric Solution. This advanced global electric hybrid system is positioned as a core technology driving Lynk & Co.’s future.

During the event, Mu Jun, Deputy General Manager of Lynk & Co. Sales Co., Ltd., detailed the technological prowess of the EM-P system. The architecture prioritizes all-electric mode for urban commuting, ensuring minimal noise and maximum efficiency. When the battery depletes, the system seamlessly transitions to a series-hybrid range-extending mode, maintaining a smooth and electric driving experience.

For longer journeys, the EM-P system utilizes a three-speed transmission in conjunction with the electric-hybrid engine for direct drive. This not only extends the vehicle’s range but also ensures consistent power delivery, providing drivers with added peace of mind.

Furthermore, the Lynk EM-P features an intelligent energy management system capable of dynamically adjusting driving parameters based on user preferences and real-time road conditions, delivering a personalized driving experience. This “one-size-fits-one” approach aims to optimize efficiency and performance for each individual driver.

Mu Jun candidly addressed the lower acceptance of all-electric vehicles among traditional gasoline car owners. He noted the significant changes in driving habits required for full EVs. “Approximately 84% of Chinese households own just one vehicle,” Mu Jun stated. “In such scenarios, the choice often boils down to either gasoline or hybrid powertrains.” This highlights the strategic importance of hybrid solutions in the Chinese market, bridging the gap between traditional ICE vehicles and full electrification.

Notably, pre-sales for the Lynk 08 EM-P have commenced. As Lynk & Co.’s first mid-to-large-sized plug-in hybrid sedan, it is available in three trims with a starting pre-sale price of RMB 192,000.

The Lynk 08 EM-P aims to redefine value in the RMB 200,000 hybrid sedan segment by offering standard all-wheel drive and a suite of cutting-edge intelligent features. This removes the need for consumers to compromise between features and budget.

In the past, all-wheel drive systems were typically reserved for high-end, premium trim levels. The Lynk 08 EM-P disrupts this convention, effectively offering all-wheel drive as standard equipment. This provides enhanced traction and stability in various driving conditions, changing consumer expectations for hybrid sedan configurations.

Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) are a critical factor for car buyers. The Lynk 08 EM-P demonstrates a leading-edge approach in this area. It is reportedly the first sedan globally to be equipped with the Thor chip, featuring NVIDIA’s Thor processor, LiDAR, and the Qianli Haohan ADAS H7 solution as standard. This comprehensive system aims to deliver a highly capable and reliable autonomous driving experience across a wide range of road conditions.

The vehicle is fitted with 29 sensors, including a LiDAR unit, 11 cameras, 5 millimeter-wave radar sensors, and 12 ultrasonic radar sensors, providing comprehensive, 360-degree monitoring of the vehicle’s surroundings, including other vehicles, pedestrians, and the overall driving environment. This sensor suite is essential for enabling the advanced ADAS functionalities of the Lynk 08 EM-P.
