NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–MediaCo Holding Inc.’s (Nasdaq: MDIA) EstrellaTV is making waves in the Spanish-language television market. The multiplatform network wrapped up July with impressive ratings, building on a sustained period of growth among the coveted Adults 18-49 demographic in prime time. This isn’t just a blip; it’s a trend.
During the last week of July, EstrellaTV garnered 18,300 viewers in the P18-49 demographic during its Monday-Sunday prime programming, marking the network’s 5th highest weekly prime delivery this season and a significant 24% increase compared to its season-to-date average. Zooming out, EstrellaTV averaged 13,800 P18-49 viewers throughout July, representing a solid 13% climb compared to July 2024’s 12,200. This marks their fourth straight month – and the sixth out of the last eight – to demonstrate year-over-year gains in this critical demographic. A compelling performance when you consider what’s happening with their competitors.
While EstrellaTV is riding high, industry giants Univision and Telemundo saw their P18-49 viewership in prime time take a hit, declining by 35% and 21% respectively, year-over-year in July. Unimas experienced a 15% increase, largely thanks to its FIFA Mundial coverage. However, strip away the soccer frenzy in the final week, and Unimas’ audience plummeted by a staggering 43% compared to its average in the first three weeks. Talk about a one-off boost.
So, what’s driving EstrellaTV’s success? A potent mix of prime time shows, it seems:
- Alarma TV (9 PM slot) averaged 30,400 P18-49 viewers in July, a notable 37% spike compared to its season-to-date average. The show’s popularity surged even further in the final two weeks of the month, averaging 38,100 and 35,700 viewers, respectively.
- Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento (8 PM) finished the month on a high note, attracting 18,700 P18-49 viewers in the final week, exceeding its season-to-date average by 10%.
- 100 Latinos Dijeron (7 PM) was another standout performer, climbing 23% versus season-to-date, with 18,700 viewers in the final week compared to 15,200.
These gains are evidence of EstrellaTV’s growing allure among younger Hispanic audiences and the effectiveness of its programming strategy. Adding fuel to the fire, MediaCo’s EstrellaTV boosted its summer lineup with the live music, reality competition, Objetivo Fama, which premiered on August 2nd at 8 PM EST. The show is gathering steam with viewers, and it’s just part of a non-stop music and soccer programming schedule this Saturday, August 16th, kicking off at 8 PM EST with the highly anticipated Tigres vs. América Liga MX rivalry match.
