He highlighted the potential for new “demographic dividends,” “talent dividends,” and even the emergence of entirely novel industries, fundamentally reshaping the economic landscape and driving unprecedented growth.
According to Yang’s address, the sustained expansion of AI capabilities, coupled with its demonstrable economic benefits, is fueling two key “scale effects.” He noted that AI is already performing at or exceeding human levels in various domains, and is also beginning to exhibit distinctly human-like characteristics.
He envisions a future where silicon-based life, composed of physical hardware as “bodies” and diverse intelligence as “neural centers,” will rapidly proliferate. These silicon entities, integrated with human beings, will forge a synergistic relationship, each leveraging their unique strengths. This collaboration, Yang believes, will give birth to new engines of progress, driving a new civilization: one built upon the convergence of carbon and silicon.
